Empty Chair
How can life go on
As though you never were?
You left traces in the hearts
Of all those you loved.
The trees that you planted
Still bear their fruit,
And the flowers in your garden,
They still bloom.
Your chair now sets empty.
There's reminders of you in every room.
But it's all so still and quiet now,
How can this be true?
My heart can't comprehend
That you're really gone.
At times I think I hear you call and
I can almost feel your touch.
Why did you have to leave
When you were loved so much?
I just live in a house now.
It no longer feels like home,
As I look at your empty chair and
I feel so alone.
I know that you're with God now
And some day he'll call me.
Your chair won't have to set alone then,
Mine will be there too.
