Just Kids After All

We read all the books
Listen to all the specialist
Do all the things,
To the best of our knowledge
Given the best of our ability
They're just kids after all

How do we know
All was for the best
We teach them what we thought
Was right from wrong
Did we do what was right
Right for who
Or did we do all the things wrong
Wrong for who
Who's life were we living
Ours or our children's
They're just kids after all

Did we do our best,
Or what we thought was best
Best for who

Was all given in love
Or mainly to impress
Ourselves or someone else

Pushing to be the best
Passing all the tests
Did we forget
They're just kids after all

Did we think we can only
Do just so much
Or try to give it all
Only to loose the ball

Where did we go wrong
How could we not remember
They were just kids after all

We need to let them grow
To be themselves
Just be there, when they fall

Let them know
We love them after all
